SSV Normandy SR1 by SIMple Homes

The SSV Normandy SR1 is the flagship of the Alliance Fleet in the first Mass Effect game, and is also the ship commanded by Commander Shepard, the first human S.P.E.C.T.R.E, and we at SIMple Homes have done our best to recreate this fantastic ship in all of its glory, with a few additions which were sadly lacking in the original (such as bathroom facilities and a galley/kitchen).

As you would expect from such a large and bespoke build, there is a lot of custom content that I have created (patterns, walls and ceilings), and all of it is listed below, also with images showing what each piece is. There are also a few pieces not created by SIMple Homes, and those are also listed below.

The Normandy SR1 on this lot is parked hovering over a reduced version of the planet Virmire, where Commander Shepard confronted Saren and blew up his cloning facility in the original game. The ship is accessed via an elevator which takes you onto the main deck.

The layout of the Main Deck is as follows:
  • The Bridge - where Joker pilots the vessel, with also a further 4 control seats/desks
  • The main corridor with eight more control desks
  • The CIC where you would find XO Pressley along with the Galaxy Map
  • The Comm. Room - Situated behind the wall labelled NORMANDY, where Commander Shepard contacts the Council
  • Two sets of stairs leading down to the Crew Deck

The layout of the Crew Deck is as follows:

  • The Galley/Kitchen - Sadly missing in the original game, but necessary here
  • The Elevator leading down to the lower decks
  • The Mess Hall/Dining Area
  • The Captain's Quarters with added bathroom (sadly missing in original game)
  • The Med-Bay, which leads to...
  • ...Liara's Study
  • Kaiden's work area
  • Equipment Lockers (Dressing drawers in the original cabinet colours)
  • Crew Quarters populated with bunk beds as I had no way of creating sleeping pods
  • Crew communal shower room (sadly missing in original game)
  • Crew communal toilet facilities (sadly missing in original game)

As mentioned above the elevator on the Crew Deck leads down to Below Deck

The layout of Below Deck is as follows:

  • Engineering
  • Cargo Bay with 4x4 included as I had no way of creating a Mako
  • Ashley's work desk (with tools rather than weapons) and a laptop
  • Crew lockers (Dressing drawers in the original cabinet colours)

The ground floor is all Virmire plus the entrance to the main elevator.

We hope that you and your sims enjoy this lot as much as we did building it. It has taken us nearly 2 weeks with the extra content creation, and is our biggest single build so far.

If you do like this though, please do show your appreciation by either emailing me, or contacting me at MTS.  You can find my details on the "Contact Us" page :)

The Unseen TARDIS by SIMple Homes (Sims 3)

Here at SIMple Homes we know that other creators and lot builders have created the Doctor's TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimension In Space) in many forms, from sculptures, to modded working ones which were bigger on the inside than the out (but stopped working once the game was upgraded), and others that require a teleporter or elevator to reach the "interior" built on sub-levels. We decided on a different approach, and scoured the internet for information about the TARDIS from across the years.

We based our exterior design loosely on what many seem to think it should look like. Obviously due to size restrictions we could not build the full range of rooms (which includes fourteen bathrooms and seven squash courts, as well as a store room to house unused/saved rooms), so we focused on what we discovered were the most commonly known rooms, and designed our decor to match the TARDIS from different time-periods, or with no suitable reference material did our own thing.

The above image was a proposed view of the shape of the interior of the TARDIS. We used this as a loose idea reference, and then added our own touches.

The Unseen TARDIS consists of four levels in all, and entrance into the house is through the famous blue police box.

The basement level is purely the lower central core housed under the console room. There is space in there for adding other furniture or equipment as your sims require. We have kept it as the Central Core only (to our own design).

Ground Floor consists of:

  • Front and rear gardens including front patio and garden maze - bespoke design
  • Entrance Police Box
  • Console Room
  • Hot Tub Room (The official rooms stated a sauna room, but a hot-tub was more feasible for this design)
  • Indoor Swimming Pool
  • Gymnasium - The Tenth Doctor stated he was going to install one, so we did it for him.
  • One-Car Garage with additional scooter as per the episode The Idiot's Lantern where the Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler ride out of the TARDIS on a scooter.

The hot-tub, swimming pool, gym and garage are accessible via the first floor.

Our Console Room is based on the 2013 TARDIS with the Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith). We have included images we used as reference to work on console designs, and general room appearance. Due to the inability to create a reasonable sized hexagonal console, we went with square, and so only created four of the six console patterns, but we also created the side console patterns as well as bespoke wallpaper and floor patterns too.

The first floor is only accessed from the Console Room and consists of:
  • Dressing Room
  • Separate rooms for toilet and sink, and bath and shower
  • Kitchen Diner with laundry facilities
  • Second Bedroom in an Asian style (our choice)
  • Bathroom for Second Bedroom
  • Third Bedroom with bunk beds as per when Amy Pond and Rory are given a room with bunk beds. Design of room is our own though.
  • Bathroom for Third Bedroom
  • Cloister Room with Cloister Bell (our design based on descriptions we found, and the content available in the sims inventory)
  • Doctor's personal study and library combined (the library in the TARDIS is massive, but we decided to join two rooms together to save space)
The top floor only has a few more rooms:
  • Master Bedroom - Instead of the current bedroom we opted for a more traditional approach which we felt was suited to this build.
  • Lounge and reception room, because after all, why wouldn't the Doctor and his companions want to relax and put their feet up occasionally?
  • The Zero Room - The one place an injured Doctor can go to recover. The design of this room is based on the room the fifth doctor recovered in. We couldn't supply the smell of roses though.

We hope that you and your sims enjoy this lot as much as we did building it.

This build took me about a full week to create with all the bespoke patterns listed below plus research etc, but it has been a labour of love.

Simfleet Firefly (Sims 3)

We at Simfleet were requested by keepmesafe10120 to travel to an alternate neighbouring universe, find a decommissioned Firefly class vessel, and transform it into a home for sims. Here is our result. The layout has been left as close to the original as possible, and we have tried to adapt it to be as close to the most famous vessel of this class: Serenity.

Unfortunately during our salvage operation, there were no companion shuttles, or shuttles of any kind, so we adapted the engines to be separate pods, and transformed one into a companion shuttle pod, and the other into an activity pod. The cockpit is more or less intact, as is the engine room, the original crew and guest quarters, the medical room, the dining room and much more. Just browse the images below for more details. We have tried to go with similar furniture to Serenity, in that items look to be random and salvaged from any available location.

The floorplan is as follows:

Lower Deck

Stairs leading to entrance hall
Cargo Hold
Sitting area
Med Bay
2x single guest quarters
2x double guest quarters
2x bathrooms
Lower floor of Activity Pod
Lower floor of Companion Pod

Upper Deck

Catwalk above Cargo Hold
Engine Room
Waiting area leading to upper floor of Companion Pod (including bedroom)
Study leading to upper floor of Activity Pod
5x crew quarters

Main Deck

Kitchen-Diner-Lounge - Open Plan
Bridge
Cockpit

Exterior

Fully landscaped gardens
Swimming pool
Fountains
4x parking spaces
4x bike racks
BBQ area
Children's playground
Your own bit of frontier countryside

Below is an image of the original Serenity:
